Broken Civic Parking Machines

I was recently summoned for Jury Duty at the Supreme Court in Civic. On one day of attendance one of the carpark machines malfunctioned and swallowed some of my change without providing a receipt to display on the dashboard. I ended up getting a receipt from one of the other machines.

It appears that the machines are owned and operated by Mirvac. After a few phone calls I found that you can request a refund by describing the circumstances around the malfunction in an email to Andrew_Seif@mirvac.com.au

I don’t know what position this guy holds, but it appears he is conveniently based in Sydney.

I now have a personal cheque from Megaside PTY LTD to the value of the change I lost in the malfunctioning machine. I’m posting this in case another reader has a similar experience and wants to be compensated, or at least rather not donate their change to Mirvac.

You can actually just ring them and say the machine is out of order and give your numberplate, and they come to your car and put a ‘paid’ form on your windscreen – saves worrying about reimbursement.

For some reason this thread reminds me of the start of the Big Lebowski, when he pays for a carton of milk with a cheque. Anyway carry on.
