This in from ACT Policing:

ACT Policing are seeking witnesses to a serious assault which occurred on Wednesday, December 29 2010, in Erindale.

About 1.30pm four friends, two males and two females, were having lunch at the Erindale complex on Gartside Street. They were approached by two males who were carrying beer bottles and appeared to have been drinking.

The first male made unwelcome advances on the female victim, who attempted to defend herself when he approached her; he was then seen to strike her with a single punch to her face. The female suffered a broken jaw as a result of the assault and underwent surgery.

The same male person has then struck one of the male victims with a beer bottle, causing it to break upon impact to his head.

The offenders have left the area in a white Holden Barina, with a young female driving and young male in the passenger seat.

The first male offender is described as Caucasian, 17-18 years of age, between 5’8″ (173cm) and 6’ (183cm) tall, with a slim build and an olive complexion. He has a shaved head with dark regrowth and was wearing a white coloured singlet and dark coloured shorts.

The second male is described as Caucasian, 17-18 years of age, slightly shorter than the first male, with dark, curly, short hair and wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts.

Anyone who may have witnessed the assault, recognises the male offenders or the vehicle involved are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

Fireworks in a Bar area ??? do they realise that everyone could go up in smoke, including the perpetrators, alcohol is very flammable, and just about everything around a bar area has had alcohol spilt on it.

Umm… Fireworks, Vikings, Dad’s… None of that was in the original post, were you supposed to be commenting on another thread maybe?

Over here.

Then there is the fellow whose eye may never be the same again, scarring, possible loss of sight, massive pain (think a poke in the eye – that hurts, but Glass ??) Not withstanding the period of time he now has to take off work. There’s a lot more to this, and it will be ongoing for some time.
Would the thugs who did this, like their dad assaulted in this way, what are they thinking ? But I expect drugs will dull anyone’s perception of reality. Perhaps a good poke in the eye might help them!
Come on Vikings, the public is entitled to feel safe when going out at night with friends. If there is the slightest inkling of trouble – ACT on it, do it straight away and we will not have this sort of tragic event happen.

What a pity the Barina wasn’t found wrapped round a tree with the occupants nice and dead.

The incident is bad enough, but the Riot ACT mob violence sounds like very much the Thuggies Way of sorting things out.

Also noted – a few anonomous keyboard typing heroes, who stand 7 feet tall and 120kg of pure muscle ….

Haven’t you ever played D&D? We are chaotic good. They are chaotic evil.

Sickening, and there is no way any justice dished out, if the thug is caught, will fit the crime.

I await the; “poor soul must have had a terrible upbringing, and been badly parented, to carry all this rage in him, he must need counseling and a damn good letting off”, brigade to chip in here.

I’m at one with the seven foot tall keyboard heroes on this, a bit of natural justice should be administered. I’m happy to add my input.

I’m 165cm tall and not very fit but I would certainly like to have a go at the low life mongrels.

The gender isn’t relevant

This is pretty bad. Punching people who are sitting down to have a meal. Probably with no provocation either. Like LSWCHP I’ve also had the government train me up on ways to make people very uncomfortable or indeed dead. I suspect that though has taught me to value life and value not using violence to solve conflict. This poor woman did not deserve this. She will be dealing with the physicall after affects of this for months and the emotional after affects for years now. Very sad indeed.

So will the male victim. Gender makes no difference to the amount of damage of whatever kind this kind of thuggery causes.

It’s symptomatic of a community who feels law and order is not being preserved. Whether or not it’s right is another argument in itself.

I would very much like to take luncheon at a nearby table and agree with any points LSWCHP makes in support of his argument.

What a nice place to take the wife for lunch. I’d imagine a few witnesses were about

Totally disgusting behaviour, what a coward, even if he was caught he would get of with a slap on the wrist.

How low can human beings get? Do these P.O.S think they are tough men for doing that? Its just sickening.

Ugh in broad daylight too.

The courage, masculine virtues, honour, manliness and general Australian values displayed by these gentlemen is beyond compare. It doesn’t get much better than insulting an unsuspecting woman who just wants to eat lunch, king-hitting her, and then bashing her bloke with a bottle.

Long Pause, Sarcasm Off.

This is outrageous. And sickening.

Due to an excess of testosterone I spent my youth (in uniform, at government expense) learning how to kill and injure people with guns, explosives, knives, fists, feet, teeth, rocks, sticks or whatever else came to hand at the time. I’m a fair bit older and slower now, but I’m a lot more cunning, much calmer under pressure, and I’ve forgotten nothing.

I would, quite honestly, welcome these blokes to myrestaurant table for a chat about what it really means to be a man in our society, followed by a free martial arts lesson. Seriously. No internet bravado at all.

And my heart goes out to the victims of this atrocity, which is what it truly is. I hope they manage to recover without permanent physical or emotional damage. And I also hope the perps end up safely in jail before they pick the wrong bloke, and end up in tears.

Swedes. Not a common species down our way. But there you go.
