Brumbies Battered By Bulls 50-32

It used to be the case that scoring 32 points was enough to win a game of rugby.

Once upon a time a 21-10 lead at half time was a good start.

But times have changed in rugby.

Keo has the Saffer perspective on how our brave boys got blown away in the second half in Pretoria.

The Brumbies’ party line is also available:

While disappointed with the result, CA Brumbies Head Coach Andy Friend said the loss did have a silver lining.

“When you get beaten like we did you can’t be overly happy with it,” he said. “We can definitely take some positives out of it and the lesson we got given there tonight is probably one of the big positives.

“We played the champion team and they taught us to be the champion team you’ve got to have intensity for 80 minutes. We had intensity for passages and when we did I thought we looked tremendous but we knocked off for too many periods throughout the game. Our discipline let us down and we gave away seven penalties in a 16-minute period when we were up by seven points. When you do that against any team – let alone the Bulls – they’re going to hurt you.”

50-32? That sounds like they decided to play Beach Cricket instead.

I reckon we need to go for more tries instead of penalty goals when we are attacking in their quarter. Sure we get 3 points but it releases the pressure valve for the other team too easily. Someone like Steyn can then slot em over from halfway where no pressure was being applied.

A total horror weekend in the tipping comp. 200 more points scored in the first 2 rounds this year than last, either the new rules are working or the defence isn’t. Probably both.

When the Loftus Versfeld (spelling?) is your home ground the altitude will always see the life sucked out of your opposition in the last 20.

They were on a hiding to nothing, as most teams are on the SA trip. Bring the Bulls back to a wet, cold and lower altitude Canberra Stadium…..lets party

one try to the bulls by the ref taking out a tackler and another try a knock on, still would have made it 36 to 32 but would have been a much different game

Brumbies looked tired in last 20minutes even with the bench on the field

well done Pat Mcabe(sp) the new winger

and I’m hoping the effort the burmbies put in the last minute to get another try will reward them throughout the season for the extra 5 points in for and against
