The Brumbies have announced their lineup for the Mission Impossible against the red hot and very fired up Canterbury Crusaders:

1. Ben Alexander
2. Steve Moore
3. Dan Palmer
4. Ben Hand
5. Mark Chisholm
6. Mitch Chapman
7. Colby Faingaa
8. Ita Vaea
9. Josh Valentine
10. Matt Giteau ©
11. Francis Fainifo
12. Robbie Coleman
13. Adam Ashley-Cooper
14. Henry Speight
15. Pat McCabe

Reserves
16. Huia Edmonds
17. Salesi Ma’afu
18. Peter Kimlin
19. Julian Salvi
20. Patrick Phibbs
21. Matt Toomua
22. Christian Lealiifano

Am I the only one who thinks Toomua and Lealiifano are somewhat wasted on the bench?

Best bench in SupeRugby? (tho’ i’d happily swap Nic White for Phibbs)
Can someone please explain why Matt Giteau gets another turn when there are two great alternatives warming the bench? Why persist with a soon-to-be leaving player (who is a shadow of his former self) when we have the option to nurture and develop classy younger players (who will leave if they don’t get the gametime they rightly deserve – the Chiefs and the Force/Rebels must be licking their lips).
I’d have got myself fired too if I was up against this idiocy…

Lealiifano has to be in there at 12 or 13; he was their best back last year. Ashley-Cooper or McCabe are both great players but neither has thrown a pass in their life and therefore belong on the wing. Agreed Speight needs a spot on the bench, hasn’t shown much yet and hands look a bit suspect to me. Bring Toomua on at the 60 min mark when Gits’ brain starts to freeze up. Coleman hasn’t put a foot wrong and deserves his spot.

Suggest move Speight to the bench, Coleman to 14, Gits to 12 and bring Toomua into 10.

Coleman’s step around Muliiaina (sp?) in Week 1 has bought him a few more weeks grace in my book.

I agree, theres about 4 blokes in that backline that Lealiifano could replace

No, you’re not the only one. I’d also add “shafted” to “wasted”. Also, I actually had to think twice about the symbol next to Matt Giteau’s name. At first glance I thought it was a copyright symbol, and he is only letting us use his name by his good graces.
