Brumbies imploding?

It’s very early in the season for this sort of malarkey but the ABC is reporting (and other media are going with it) on speculation that Brumbies coach Andy Friend is on the skids with the Brumbies:

In a situation reminiscent of seven years ago, that resulted in the ousting former coach David Nucifora, some senior players are reportedly unhappy with Friend.

But Friend has told ABC Grandstand he and his players are all pulling together in the same direction.

“In a squad of 40, there’s always going to be some players who aren’t agreeing with what you’re doing,” he said.

Come on Brumbies. How about making rugby the focus?

Jeez, settle down it wasn’t that bad…

The Brumbies dominated the game, just got lost when attacking the try line. That’s where the problem is.

Kaplan’s soft penalty at the end there was definitely a square up for the forward pass that led to the brumbies 2nd try. Amateur!

Jesus Christ.

Overpaid incompetent muscle-bound dimwit “entertainers” who are very evidently failing to entertain anyone except the opposing fans search furiously for someone else to blame for their ineptitude in order to keep the disgustingly excessive floods of cash rolling into their bank accounts while achieving Very Little Indeed.

Committed fans respond with…
“Simple message to the players put your head down and your ass up and get on with doing what your paid to do and take some responsibility for your own performance so going to the football can be an enjoyable experience again rather than the rubbish you’ve been dishing up under Fisher and Friend for the last 5 years.”

Awww c’mon, don’t beat around the bush. Tell us what you really think!

Personally, I wouldn’t piss into their ears if their brains were on fire.

They certainly seem to be imploding after tonight’s loss.

Terrible, terrible performance from the Brumbies. Only Coleman, Colby Faainga and Pat McCabe can hold their heads high tonight. The rest of the Brumbies can clear out for all I care after that effort!

Giteau is not a captain or a fly-half. Two dads is not getting enough space. Speight can’t kick to save himself. The scrum turns to jelly when Palmer goes off. Very frustrating.

+ 1,000,000 Very well said. And maybe the organisation could focus on matters rugby rather than trying to become property developers. It’s pretty simple. coaches coach and players play.

The problem with the Brumbies and player power was that it evolved at a time when the players were of extremely high caliber unfortunately the culture it developed has not responded well to the drop in quality of the players. The game last week was a disgrace, the Chiefs were in all aspects of the game ordinary that the Brumbies made them look good in parts was due to poor play and on field decision making by the key organisers in the Brumbies back line.

It does not take a rugby genius to know that if your number 10 can’t kick the ball out when kicking from inside the 22 that the team and the forwards in particular are being put under more pressure that they need to be. Similarly the number 10 is not supposed to be standing next to the winger on the open side of the field something which happened far to often on Saturday night.

I dont really care how good or bad Andy Friend is as a coach that is a matter for the board at the end of the year to decide in review. This group of players needs to take a good hard look at themselves stop blaming the coach, the crowd, the grass the material in the shorts, the synthetic ball or what ever it is that they can think of to cover for their own individual and collective failures on the field.

And Friend did not make MG not kick the ball out MG did that all by himself pick up a mirror and have a good look at who the problem is with that. And as far as players putting it to the management that they wont stay if Friend doesn’t go as along time fan and season ticket holder I am happy to see the players go because the performance since 2004 hasn’t justified player power having the upper hand.

Simple message to the players put your head down and your ass up and get on with doing what your paid to do and take some responsibility for your own performance so going to the football can be an enjoyable experience again rather than the rubbish you’ve been dishing up under Fisher and Friend for the last 5 years.

Any real Canberran blames Sydney first.

I usually do, but clearly its QLD causing most of the problems today. Taxes, rudd, the independents. Bob katter.

I’m a huge fan of the Brumbies, but I’ve often wondered about the stupidity of their coaching model. It strikes me as weird that the tail wags the dog. Stiff shit if theres some senior players that have issues with the coach, in any kind of sane world they’d have two choices – knuckle under and get on with the job or go elsewhere to have their pathetic little whinge. In Brumbyland though, an inability to get your crap together and play a decent game of rugby is somehow someone elses fault.

Totally agree but it seems to be a trend across all footy codes now rather than just the Brumbies. Although Brumbies could be considered pioneers after the Nucifora debacle.

Last time they had problems with the coach they won the comp. Might be a good thing.

When Friend took over, the Brumbies suddenly began kicking the ball instead of running it. Coincidence?
