The Brumbies have announced they’ve secured the services of former Waratah great Peter Hewat who at age 32 has been playing for Suntory in Japan after being snubbed for Wallaby selection.
Since leaving Australian shores he’s been playing flyhalf which is handy as we seem to have broken many of ours.
Sadly he’s not going to be eligible to play finals football so expect to see Holmes or Coleman still playing a lot at 10 to get them ready.
The 32 year old has spent the last two seasons in Japan with Suntory after enjoying three years with London Irish in the English Premiership.
Hewat played with the Tahs between 2005 and 2007 making a name for himself as a point-scoring machine. In his debut year at the Waratahs he broke two key records; Scott Staniforth’s for try scoring and Matt Burke’s for point scoring. During his time in Sydney, Hewat claimed 50 Super Rugby caps making him the most experienced player in the young University of Canberra Brumbies backline.
