It’s the match of the season this Saturday at the Stadium In Bruce.

The Brumbies have just announced our starting 15 to face the might of Auckland.

    1. Ben Alexander
    2. Stephen Moore
    3. Guy Shepherdson
    4. Ben Hand
    5. Peter Kimlin
    6. Mitchell Chapman
    7. George Smith
    8. Stephen Hoiles (c)
    9. Patrick Phibbs
    10. Matt Toomua
    11. Stirling Mortlock
    12. Gene Fairbanks
    13. Tyrone Smith
    14. Francis Fainifo
    15. Adam Ashley-Cooper

We will have to hope that Shepherdson’s had a hair cut before being allowed back on the pitch.

The backline appeared to function last week, but I have to worry that the Auckland speedsters might have cottoned on to just how slow Mortlock is these days.

Also nice to see Francis Fainifo rewarded for his electric running against the Reds.

But the loss of Gerrard’s booming boot is big one, especially with our incompetent lineout jumping since the loss of Mark Chisholm.

The Auckland backline is scary with the ball in hand. But if we can keep it in our hands we’re home free, as they don’t like tackling.

Also, so long as we score more points than them, we will win…

The Auckland backline is scary with the ball in hand. But if we can keep it in our hands we’re home free, as they don’t like tackling.

The Back line does look good and also having the new Australian Front row back togeather is going to help.

Next year we will loose Gerrard and Mortlock (I think he has not renewed contract yet) but getting gitteu

Our backline next year should be

9, phibbs
10 christian leifano (spelling)
12, Gitteu
13 Tyrone Smith
11, Clyde rathbone
14 Francis Fainifo
15,ashley-cooper

also leave sheps hair out of it, I think it a good look

I fear they are not the same team without Gerrard at the back…fingers crossed. What we are going to do next season without him I don’t know (although Huxley coming back would help there).
