Brumbies play complete crap

Poor decision making, inept play, complete crap.

I can think of one Brumbies game that I enjoyed less. But it was freezing cold, pouring rain, and my ipod touch got broken by the water.

Forwards still good. Backs? We may as well put the Eddies Second XV on, they’ll have more enterprise, intelligence and determination.

Keo have a fair report of the carnage.

BTW, I fail to see what all of this has to do with the Brumbies (and their performance on Friday), at all?

You tell us – you made a big deal out of it.

OK, I admit it. I made a big deal out of the fact that you guys deal with your club’s mediocre performances (and general malaise) by telling yourselves that it has twice as many members as the Raiders, when it doesn’t.

LOL

He also gave us a fair advantage for 20 minutes in the first half. If we can’t score when playing against 14 men for 20 minutes there are some serious issues.

I disagree. He did “give” us 20 minutes but the ‘canes wasted at least 17 of them by not setting scrums or collapsing or dawdling to lineouts etc and Kaplan did nothing about it. That’s what upset ouy bay and started to slow hand clapping. Kaplan was a disgrace!

We had plenty of ball to score during that time. The fact we kept stuffing it up requiring set pieces played into the ‘Canes’ hands.

By the way, why did we not take the kick for goal with 1 minute to go and down by 10? We kick it (admittedly not certain based on previous kicks) and we at least come away with a BP. Instead we decide to go for a try which would have exactly the same result?!

Where did you get the figure of 6134 Raiders members from? Why such a precise number? The fact is that the Raiders only have 5000 members – it was all over the local media a few weeks ago when they reached that number, it was considered a great milestone and a source of pride despite the Brumbies having 9000 members – as WFG said, almost twice as many.

“The fact is” that you’re wrong: the current 2010 membership count is on http://www.raiders.com.au, on the right hand side, about half way down.

It was considered a milestone and a source of pride because like most NRL teams, the Raiders have only been pushing membership packages aggressively for two years now. In 2008 they only had ~3200 members and so have almost doubled their membership in two seasons. I understand that the goal for season 2011 is to have 8000 members.

I gave up two years ago and went back to League. Brumbys have not corrected numerous errors, seem to have a low work ethic, have a tendency to relax after scoring, do little to pursue bonus points, give away penalties in kicking range too often, have bad ball security and turnovers, kick away the ball too often, seemed to have forgotten about “running rugby” and are a general disappointment. Perhaps if they were on performance pay they might improve. They appear more interested in property investment.

Brumbies problems started with the appointment of CEO Rob Clarke who, correct me if i’m wrong, presided over the removal of ACT from the name, the removal of the Brumbies choir, and removal of a brilliant coach in David Nucifora. They’ve had two coaches since then who i wouldn’t have coach my kid’s under 13s. I’ve been a loyal fan since 1996 but i’m not sure how much more of this I can put up with.

I too had a giggle at Friendy’s comments about Rugby needing to be entertaining or the fans won’t show up – this is from the same bloke only worried about winning and not fussed about bonus points.

With the Tahs, Reds and Crusaders still to play, that loss most likely means the end to our season. What a disappointment. Kaplan was a joke, but our passing and general ball handling was just as ordinary.

I had a giggle at Friendy’s comments of our guys playing as individuals and not as a team. Er, what is the coaches job again?

I think the Brumbies have become complacent and are now taking us all for granted. During the week they posted the news that they now have 9000 members, almost twice as many as the Raiders. Maybe they think that we’ll just keep paying our membership dues year after year without considering the bottom line (ie: results on the field). If they don’t pull their socks up and start winning consistently we could face the very real prospect that a women’s basketball team (the Capitals) will take over as the number one sporting team in Canberra.

The Raiders have 6134 members for 2010.

If you think that sheer weight of membership numbers makes a team the number one in its market then I guess it’s fine to portray the Brumbies as the “number one sporting team in Canberra”. If you decided the same based upon involvement in the community, quality of play and sportsmanship, interest from outside Canberra and results against other teams in the same market, you might reach a different conclusion.

Don’t know if all 9000 Brumbies members think the same way as you, but personally, I would have no problem with a women’s sporting team being considered the number one sporting franchise in Canberra, just because they were a women’s team. Anyone with a contrary idea belongs in the 1950s.

As far as the Canberra Capitals are concerned, I don’t know how many members they have – or if in fact you can even sign up as a member – but on performance on the field alone it would seem they became the number one sporting team in Canberra several years ago. Both the Raiders and Brumbies have won 3 premierships each in their respective competitions while the Capitals have won seven if I’m not mistaken.

I certainly hope the losing streak continues for a few more weeks. Just until after the Reds game on 1 May…

very fair assessment c’. it looked the same when i watched the replay the next day as well

No that it had any impact on the end result (perhaps a bonus point), but I could have sworn, perched behind the Brumbies dugout, that the try scored in the 70th odd minute was the direct result of a knockon.

Fair assessment?

Although not very knowledgeable on the game of union (but enjoy occasionally watching), my better half, stepson and I attended last night’s game. We thought it that riveting we left at half time to avoid the rush!

Complete Crap……you’re way too generous Johnboy.

Move Huxley to flyhalf (until Toomua gets back) and Giteau back to 12 and tell him that if he kicks out on the ufll again we are going to amputate both his feet

I wonder if the Force will take Giteau back.

I was wondering what their returns policy was…

The Brumbies were bad, but that didn’t lose the game. Jonathan Kaplan scored the majority of the Hurricanes’ points.

I wonder if the Force will take Giteau back.

Rubbish, bloody rubbish.

On an unrelated note, most electrical devices can be resurrected from a watery grave, be turning them off immediately, leaving them buried in rice or kitty litter for a couple of days. Seriously, Google it, then try it, and be amazed.

With a coach like Friend, who needs enemies?
