The Brumbies have announced that their quest for a better back-up fly half has failed and as a result Patrick Phibbs is going to keep his job.

I’m sure he’s thrilled by this vote on confidence in his abilities.

Only for a year though, obviously hoping something better comes up next year.

If Friend is smart they’ll both get more game time than Valentine. There’s a reason that joker has played for all four provinces…..

Be good to see the White/Toomua combination next year having had the entire U20 comp to work on the combination. Fingers crossed for a new Gregan/Larkham era!!

Also mentioned was the elevation of Hooper and Faingaa to the senior squad. They’d already signed Salvi as well so perhaps Smith’s shoes are far harder to fill than expected (although I’d love to see Salvi put some pressure on Pocock for the Wallaby 7.

I think it’s disappointing you’ve failed to mention that the Brumbies have just elevated Aus U20’s scrumhalf Nick White to the senior squad.

If Friend is smart he’ll get more game time than Phibbs.

I didn’t see the backhand compliment myself. Where did they say they were looking for a better back-up than Phibbs? – sure you know that a scrumhalf and flyhalf not the same. Easy mistake. Would be pretty hopeless if you felt like your team extended your contract in desperation – lets hope he doesn’t feel that
