Brumbies win big as ugly as ugly gets. Brumbies 37 Hurricanes 25

Taking five competition points from the Hurricanes in New Zealand is no small achievement.

The reserves of character displayed by the Brumbies to play so badly, for so long, and still score four tries and win by some margin must be applauded.

Keo has an excellent match report of how we scored 19 unanswered points in the last 20 minutes to take this one.

How did the Hurricanes conspire to throw this match away? They scored their fourth try in the third quarter and looked to be cruising to an important win, but faded badly in the last 20 minutes and allowed the visitors to score 19 unanswered points.

It will be regarded as an ugly win for Jake White’s team even though they bagged five log points from a difficult visit to Wellington. It was also ironic that some form of kicking would propel the Brumbies to a fantastic result, as their kicking from hand was nothing short of aimless.

Zack Holmes has a lot of improving to do. He has a lot of gaining faith in his team mates and the game plan to do. But he kicked a lot of points and scored a try.

Now if he can let the five players outside him see the ball we’re starting to think about a red hot shot at the competition.

I don’t reckon you can blame Holmes for the fact 12 and 13 didn’t see the ball – he would have had some pretty strict riding instructions.

Yep, now where is that bloke who questioned me in the preview thread, when I said we wouldn’t take them on in the backs…

The godawful midfield bomb at the start of the game where he failed to get his runners onside however…

On the xbox foxtel the game is being replayed at 9.30 tonight.

Does some kind soul have or know where I may find a full replay of the game?

I don’t reckon you can blame Holmes for the fact 12 and 13 didn’t see the ball – he would have had some pretty strict riding instructions. He was solid, and can kick points. Looking forward to next weekend.
