Budgie successfully rescued in Kambah

From the ESA:

7:30am Friday 11 June 2010 – House fire at Kambah ACT Fire Brigade currently on scene of a house fire on Marconi Cres, Kambah. Update to follow.

8.10am Friday 11 June 2010 – Update on house fire at Kambah Fire has been extinguished at the single storey brick veneer house.

Smoke alarm was activated and occupants safely self evacuated.

ACT Ambulance Service Intensive Care Paramedics have transported one patient to The Canberra Hospital for assessment.

Firefighters rescued four dogs and two chickens from the backyard and a budgee from the house.

Time of Emergency Triple Zero (000) call at 7.13am.

Fire damage confined to room of origin with remainder of house sustaining smoke damage.

Investigations into the cause are underway.

Well that’s a relief.
