ACT Policing has released CCTV images of a male offender responsible for a burglary which occurred at a house in Ngunnawal last week.

About 8.45am, Tuesday (July 3) a man entered the residence through a sliding door and stole a number of household items.

The offender was wearing a high visibility orange jumper, a dark coloured baseball cap and dark scarf with a white printed pattern covering his nose and mouth. He was also wearing dark coloured gloves and long dark coloured trousers with knee pads.

Constable Morgwn Saunders from ACT Policing Criminal Investigation said the burglary in Ngunnawal was a timely reminder that people should not always assume that all burglaries occur with offender’s wearing hoodies and baseball caps.

“In this case the male offender was wearing clothing that resembled that of a trade person.

“If you see anyone in your neighbour’s backyard that you consider suspicious ask them what they are doing on the premises then contact your neighbour and verify the information.” Constable Saunders said.

“If you have any doubts then don’t hesitate to call ACT Policing on 131444.”

Anyone who may be able to assist with the investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

I notice that the Crimes is reporting that the bloke has been caught.

According to the police, they suspect him of being responsible for a string of burglaries over 5 years.

Good to see him off the streets. Hopefully the magistrate will keep it that way, although I won’t be holding my breath.

Hey, this guys looks so much like a guy we used to hire from Jims Mowing… could it be him? He did jsut stop coming to our house – maybe after scoping the place our for valuables????

Why don’t you contact the police and let them find out?

Yep – thats what i am going to do 🙂

So i just called Crime Stoppers. Was on hold for 10 mins, then a weird answering machine told me to leave a message in an American voice… had me very confused. Anyone have an email contact at the AFP for me to email?

It’s all good – i called the ACT Police number and got through.

Perhaps he is an ex Jims Mowing guy who lost his business after being kicked out for a hit and run on a cyclist?

I think that’s the black cap he stole from my place last week?!

I love how the crimestoppers web site has no news more recent than 2011.
The site needs a little TLC.

Constable Morgwn Saunders from ACT Policing Criminal Investigation said the burglary in Ngunnawal was a timely reminder that people should not always assume that all burglaries occur with offender’s wearing hoodies and baseball caps.

This reminder would probably have more force were the offender in this case not “wearing… a dark coloured baseball cap”.

Ok, so who works on their knees with a nail bag and has handy access to chemical gloves.

A male prostitute specializing in BDSM?

Handy that the owners just happened to have a camera running in the house at the time, and that our budding burglar was bright enough to cover his face, but not so bright as to remember to cover the logo on his shirt.
I wonder if the image will get the CSI treatment to bring out the logo and at least identify the company this bloke works for.

ENHANCE!

They had this story on WIN news tonight. Important piece of info not in the media release – the guy was seen leaving in a -wait for it – WHITE COMMODORE!

Although I guess sometimes the best camouflage is to not disguise yourself at all.

I’m guessing a tradie entering someone else’s property would look pretty non-suspicious.

I’d say that’s exactly what he was thinking.

I heard one of the news reports earlier describe the burglar as being “disguised as a tradesman”. I wonder if that means that the police think he’s not a real tradie?
The video footage they showed was better quality as well. The logo on his shirt would have been clearly visible if they hadn’t pixelated it out, so the police must have known where to start looking.

When they catch and charge this guy he should have his sentence doubled simply for being a f***ing moron.

Who wears hi-viz clothing when committing a burglary?
