Built In Wardrobe Recommendations

Hi,

We are looking to have some built in wardrobes installed in two to three bedrooms. Can anyone suggest a company that can supply and install them, and do a good job, for a good price?

Or are there any out there that we should avoid?

Thanks,

We used Advance Design Wardrobes in June 2011. We found the service to be unprofessional and the workmanship poor. The wardrobe took much longer than planned and we struggled to make sure we got what was initially discussed. Less than 12 months down the track, the doors have warped and no longer run smoothly on their tracks. We have asked for the wardrobe to be removed and for a full refund. Will keep you posted…

Do not under any circumstances use Creative by Design- still have the high end prices but appalling workmanship and absolutely nothing “by design” about them: they just install standard dimensions regardless. Four return visits and it still isn’t right! Suspect they may have changed owners as I had heard nothing but praise for work they did a few years ago.

That is a great response, thank you all for your feedback.
Now to get some of those guys out to quote!

Try Organised Interiors in Hume. They built the wall bed in the apartment I live in, which I find really handy, and I’m pretty sure they did the wardrobes too.

If you are in any way shape or form handy with tools you could do it yourself. The following company in Canberra will make made to meassure wardrobe inserts. Have used them recently for my own place (as well as a flat pack kitchen too). Just read the instructions carfuly before ordering!

CNW Installations. Reliable, patient and well priced. Did an existing built in upgrade plus two new instalaations.

We had Creative do our wardrobe a few years back. Good quality work with a hefty bill included (6K). I’d reccomend them.

Very pleased with the job done by PAC Carpentry and Joinery/Wardrobe World.

They look good, work well, and I certainly consider them value for money.

I got 3 wardrobes done in my place, I cant remember the name of the company but it was a hubby and wife outfit. Will post the company when I get home.

I found that the extras such as baskets, tie racks and belt racks can be sourced else ware. There is a much better range at somewhere like Howards Storage for a lot less than the installers charge. The first wardrobe that I got done, the installer put them all in for me and then the other two I did myself with much better results.

We used Creative by Design to do internals for two built-ins and to fit out a dressing room. It was a fair bit of work and we chose some high-end finishes (correction … Mrs Clown Killer chose some high-end finished) and it came to a bit over $4000. We were pretty happy with both the price and the workmanship.

I had an absolutely awful experience with Advance Design Wardrobes. Initial impression were really good, but when it came time to do the job they completely dropped the ball. However, knowing this you could still get a good result out of them if you’re willing to stand there and watch over their shoulders to make sure they’re not screwing things up. A pain in the backside I know, but perhaps worth it for the price.

At the same time I requested a quote from Creative By Design (old Creative Wardrobe Company). They came, measured, discussed… and then never sent a quote. From what I’ve heard though they are very expensive.
