I wonder what their ritual death poem was like?

Shinkansen dreaming
cutting through dull bush pillow
train keener than blade –
severing all party lines
bullets spent so sad we fall

(-:

Then Phil Green finished them off.

Speeding to Sydney
Not happy with the weather
Then back to Melbourne

(Although, that should be shidoni and meruboran, so it’s broken).

Above-the-line voting needs to be banned – it is a menace to Democracy.

I like the idea of a compromise so that we don’t actually need to learn about 100 candidates and order them appropriately in order to register a vote, but a simple [1] is a pathetic way of voting. It absolutely is a menace. Plenty of people want to preference their party votes but personally I think it’s extremely important to take every step that reminds people that we vote for individuals and that once elected they are free to change their party membership, cross the floor, start their own party or do whatever they think is right.

Totally agree. I always number the 1 to 100 to avoid my preferences going where I don’t want them – which is a pain and not actually meaningful because I have no idea who at least 50 of the candidates are! Does anyone know how we can get it changed to allow all boxes above the line to be numbered?

Checked with the party, it’s just an admin thing (http://www.facebook.com/BulletTrainforCanberra/posts/10151622970957514)

“we became a federal party so we deregistered the ACT one. “

I presume they have been replaced by the Bullet Train for Australia, who are still on the ACT Senate ballot paper

…along with about 8 other hocus-pocus parties.

Partially agree. Bring in Hare-Clarke counting for the senate. Much fairer.

No suprise. Given how much it costs to register a car in Canberra I can barely fathom what the registration costs for a Bullet Train are.
