This site has had it’s differences with local theatrical impressario Jorian Gardner, but one thing we can all agree on is that his “Bunch of Fives” series at the Street Theatre is one of he better things about Canberra. So here’s his press release on it:

Yes it comes around quickly again doesn’t it? Well it may seem that way because we had a late A Bunch of Fives last month due to the Easter break. But we are back on track (the second Friday of every month) and this Friday May 12 sees A Bunch of Fives roar back into action again. What better way can there
be to spend after work on a Friday? Best of all it’s Free.

What people are saying about A Bunch of Fives this month: –

“A Bunch of Fives is so successful that we are considering changing the whole re-design of Canberra so as we can accommodate a new place for it and its fans. OK, it will be a small place then – but a place none-the-less.”
ACT Planning Minister Simon Corbell

“I had to get out of that damn cage so I could get to A Bunch of Fives this Friday – as long as I can have a seat. And a beer. And only if Eddie Maguire is gonna be there too. And only if I can meet Sunrise’s Koshie again too. Oh – and only if you pay me half-a-million dollars!”
Todd Russell, Beaconsfield Miner.

“If appearing at A Bunch of Fives with my son, or new baby, or wife, or a pack of whacky scientologists mean that I might be able to get more publicity for my crap new film (that’s MI3 in case you didn’t know) then I will be there. Besides that I think the show sucks anyway – and it’s not very quite. I like the quite. I guess it’s because all those gay nightclubs are so noisy that I just need to get away sometimes.”
Tom Cruise. An actor. (Of sorts)

“I have already started doing my make-up for the big A Bunch of Fives, Tango this Friday. Just finished the mascara and will spend all day tomorrow on the blush.”
Naomi Robson. Presenter, Today / Tonight on 7.

“We have announced a new rebate for families attending A Bunch of Fives – an extra bonus tax cut. This will hopefully give you more incentive to attend this show – oh and vote for me at the next election because between then and now that’s all I am going to do – throw money at you so I have your confidence and in turn the parties so I become leader. I am not see through at all.”
Peter Costello, Federal Treasurer.

Am I the only one who finds this press release a really lame attempt at a sense of humour
