The new Bunnings Warehouse at Majura Park has opened to the public with the hardware giant announcing two weekends of celebration starting with a Grand Opening on Friday (25 May) to mark its latest Canberra outlet.
Bunnings opened its doors today after moving into the space previously occupied by Woolworths’ failed Masters outlet, which it has been reconfiguring and fitting out for months.
Details of the new store have been kept under wraps.
Complex Manager, Robert Manning said the team at Bunnings Warehouse Canberra Airport was excited to welcome the local community to the store and celebrate the occasion with them.
“Our team members have worked extremely hard to prepare the store for opening and are looking forward to helping customers with their home improvement projects, as well as providing free D.I.Y. Workshops for adults and kids,” Mr Manning said.
The Grand Opening weekend festivities will continue throughout two weekends in May and June with a range of activities for the whole family on offer.
A highlight will be a D.I.Y. appearance from Better Homes and Gardens’ Adam Dovile on Saturday 26 May from 11 am to 2 pm.
Bunnings had recruited 180 team local team members, 30 of whom are also qualified tradespeople and experts who will be on hand to provide D.I.Y. advice for the home and garden.
There will also be free D.I.Y. Workshops for both adults and children every weekend.
Bunnings Warehouse Canberra Airport said it would actively support a wide range of local community groups and causes through hands-on projects, local fundraising initiatives, community workshops, product contributions and fundraising sausage sizzles.
On Friday 25 May, there will be meet and greets with popular children’s character Peppa Pig, as well as local community performances.
There will also be plenty of other family-friendly activities and treats over the weekends such as a Bricks 4 Kidz Workshop, Petting Zoo, Putt Putt Golf, Spin n Win Game, Laughing Clown Game, Fairy Floss, Balloon Animals, Piccolo the Clown and a Jumping Castle.
There will also be a meet and greet with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Donatello and Michelangelo on Saturday 2 June from 11 am to 2 pm.
