I haven’t seen a burned out car around here for a while and it looks like someone has taken the time to remedy that over the weekend.
This morning there’s a burned out car at the intersection of Heysen and Devonport St in Lyons.
There’s also a lot of broken glass from bottles around.
I guess it was a huge party.
I didn’t realise you could call the rangers, when a den of thieves was infesting a house around the corner they’d abandon their presumably stolen cars in front of my house, usually on Saturday nights. Sunday mornings I’d start my day by writing down the details on the car of the week and phoning the police, then later on I might see the owner show up, sometimes the car had to be towed.
So I assumed it’s the police you call for abandoned cars.

Good to know, towie, thanks. A road must surely qualify as “unleased land”?
As for people who torch cars at all – scum. Either criminal scum, or just scum who don’t want to take care of their own mess (either financial, or mechanical). What a waste.

Abandoned Vehicles
Choose from the list below where the abandoned vehicle is located.
Unleased Land
The City Rangers investigate and remove to the pound abandoned vehicles found on unleased land.
To report an abandoned vehicle call 62077132 or email city.rangers@act.gov.au
Leased Land
The City Rangers may investigate and remove abandoned vehicles found on leased land on a fee-for-service basis only.
To report an abandoned vehicle call 62077132 or email city.rangers@act.gov.au
If you ever come across a car that has been abanded you can call the city rangers they will investigate it and get it moved (hopefully before it gets burnt to a crisp and leaves a huge mess behind !! )
There’s been a small 4 cyl red car (don’t know make/model) parked for a couple of weeks just at the bottom of the off ramp from Federal Hwy leading to Eagle Hawk. Surprised it hasn’t been torched or otherwise vandalised yet.

Pretty sucky though as this was somneones car.
I remember when I was an apprentice chef pleb on a grand $180-ish after tax a week
I had a 2 door JL with no roof lining or carpet – basically a moving icebox/oven depending on season.
It was a junker and cost me $600 – but on the night it broke down on the way home from work I still got it towed from parkes way to giralang – for $120.
Justified by the fact that even though it did not cost me much as a car it was worth a lot more to me for what it enabled – my independence.
Pea headed individuals that torch cars do not see any value beside teh dollarof that – they do not care that it may have been a poor apprentices only mode of transport – hell that burnt out subaru may have been the only transport a single mother has to enable her independence.
or the owner had trouble with the repayments and wanted the insurance money..
A purple VN/VP Commodore was a reduced to a blackened shell on Grainger Circuit in Melba on Saturday morning. We’ve just moved there – I hope it’s not a regular event. (Or if it is, I hope we’re invited next time.)
Not a WRX, no air intake in the bonnet. Could be an Subaru Impreza, 2000 or earlier model.

Surely hk0reduck is trolling with their comment. Either that or I haven’t beemn able to locate that live-feed Google camera outside my place!
Looks like a Subaru Impreza. I think it’s sad – this was someone’s car that has been stolen and destroyed. Although the culprits will probably get away with it, it would be nice if they could be found and publicly beaten.
Of course it’s not on street view. The images for street view were taken nearly 12 months ago!
It was definitely a Subaru. I’m not sure of the actual model though.
