A 20-year-old Gordon man will be summonsed to ACT Magistrates Court on multiple traffic charges after an incident in Gordon early this morning (Friday, 6 September).
About 1.30am Police observed a dark-coloured Holden Commodore utility perform a prolonged burnout at the roundabout intersection of Woodcock Drive and Knoke Avenue.
Police activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to cause the vehicle to stop. The driver accelerated away on Woodcock Drive.
After about thirty seconds, the driver stopped the vehicle in a driveway. Both the driver and passenger fled on foot. Both men were taken into custody with the passenger released a short time later.
The driver was transported to Tuggeranong Police Station where he was required to undergo breath analysis. He returned a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.092.
As the holder of an expired licence he was issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice (ISN).
The vehicle has been seized by police. The man will face court on a date yet be fixed.
