Bus depot markets on the slide?

On Sunday I went to the Kingston Bus Depot Markets to buy some ugh boots (got to keep the feet warm when working from home).

I was struck by how quiet it was at 11am. And with big holes on the normally crowded floor.

So was it a one off? Or is there something else you’ve all moved on to?

remember it was mothers day, but then again one might suspect an increase in numbers

JB, I was there at the same time as you, we noted that it was very sparse this weekend as well.

Anyway, wouldn’t you be after the latest fashion statement, the ggu boots ? (the ones with the fur on the outside) ???

Target in Civic now have a new range of homewares, featuring such classics as scented candles, mini buddas and pebbles in a bowl, so the markets are now very much redundant.

gorman house markets have good food, but I think they are only monthly. hall markets are cool too, and very handy for us gungahlanites. I love the french chicken and mayo baguettes at Kingo markets.

one word – over-rated…if you are after food, which is one primary reason to go to a market and you don’t want to pay inflated prices, go to ‘food markets’ held at other locations.

Ugg boots?

I thought you sat around in a sleping bag all day.

My girlfriend runs a store there, and the crowd numbers (and stallholder numbers) can run very hot and cold, depending on any number of factors (weather, proximity to holidays, what else is on that weekend etc). Crowds can even vary wildly during the course of a single day. To my knowledge, though, there hasn’t been any sort of overall downward trend. I suspect you just hit it on one of the ‘cold’ days.
