Bus shelter vandals

I can’t believe the damage that has recently been done (and fixed, well done) to the new bus shelters being erected in and around Canberra. This particularly applies to those down Northbourne Ave towards Civic.

I don’t catch buses often but feel for those that do and that they must suffer severe weather conditions as a result of vandals!

OMG get a life and stop destroying public facilities!

The ultimate test- I know of some of the older concrete ones in Charnie that are still standing.

I’m pretty sure they were built with a dual purpose, bus shelter and cold war nuclear bunker…

haha

I can just imagine the process – those concrete structures just cost too much to erect, we need a cheaper option that will have to be rebuilt over and over but will have an excellent effect in making us look good in a short time, oooo shiny!

I remember an HQ Holden slamming into one of them in Mawson years back.

The bus shelter won that battle convincingly. Once the (completely written off) remnants of the ‘Q had been towed away you never would’ve known the shelter had been hit by anything beyond seeing a couple of tyre marks on the gutter.

Maybe whichever brainiac decided to replace some damaged concrete shelters, with some metal and glass structures, should have the cost of replacing them all with concrete again, taken out of their paycheque. These new shelters provide less shelter, less security and higher maintenance costs, seriously, who thought it was a good idea to change these?

This!

Maybe instead of trying to make deals with our neighbours to get rid of those troublesome refugees we could make an arrangement with Singapore to deal with our vandals the way they deal with theirs.

Have thought this for a while. IIRC, the ACT is required to provide schooling to all school age students, but is there any requirement for the school to be in the ACT? Some sort of deal that for every deadbeat they lick in to shape, we provide a uni place for one of their disciplined students – should benefit both cities nicely….

Sad, but evidence of the presence of idiots.

There was one near my house that was changed, it took nearly 2 months to be installed, set back behind an existing footpath, and there was no existing concrete structure to remove. The entire time this was happening, there were roadwork signs and barriers around the shelter, across the footpath and into the traffic lane closest to the shelter. Why they didnt simply prefab these things and dynabolt them to the ground, or find some way to assemble them in under 2 months, is beyond me.

It must have been those dumb posters in the bus stops urging the kiddies to stop vandalising. I saw them and thought they were like red rags to a bull….

Bus shelters have been vandalised? Say it ain’t so! That’s totally unprecedented.

Reports of multiple attacks on shelters in Gungahlin too.

Perhaps we need a campaign to “bring back the tanks” concrete and bombproof shelters? Adshell can still stick their bloody ads on the outside of them…
