There will be a competition for buskers held in various Civic locations in December

Full details here.

Here’s what the details will tell you:

We would like to extend an invitation for you to enter the festivities once again this year and to take part in what will truly be a memorable experience.

The 2006 NewActon Buskers Festival will be held in the heart of Canberra city. This year’s festival will embrace the cultural diversity of the Nations Capital and in conjunction with Canberra Central, will capture the spirit of Christmas in the City.

The Buskers Festival will kick off on Friday 8th December from 11am with the senior’s performing arts category, which will take place in Hobart Place.
On Saturday 9th December the festival will be all about the kids, with music and performing arts categories for the under 18s taking place in Garema Place from 11am.
Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th December will be the continuing youth performances and the open (over 18 years) music and performing arts categories, in Garema Place from 11am.

The finals will be held in spectacular fashion on Wednesday 20th December, which will be a culmination of the best of the best busking acts, battling it out for the grand prize!

Whilst buskers are not performing we will encourage you to establish your own designated area to busk away, this will give you the opportunity to express your creativity while encouraging the crowds to support you by adding a few coins to the hat.

We are asking all buskers to get amongst the action, jump into the limelight and show the people of Canberra where your true talents lie.
