From iPrime: KFC

“Police have arrested a man at KFC in Fyshwick after a stolen car was detected in the carpark.

Officers identified a white Mazda 3 as stolen and arrested a man as he was eating inside the fast-food restaurant.

A search of the car uncovered a loaded double-barrel sawn-off shotgun, a wig and stolen property including six laptops.

Police are also investigating whether a second Mazda 3 found in the same carpark was also stolen.

The 26-year-old Isabella Plains man was charged with breach of bail conditions, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, unauthorised possession of a firearm and riding in a motor vehicle without consent.”

well that will teach him for eating at KFC!!!!!

What’s wrong with English?

Yeah I could see how those uncommon, confusing acronyms used in the title would be difficult to decipher.

Well I’ll be honest I didn’t know what “SMV” was until I read the story. I presume it’s Stolen Motor Vehicle. Of course I thought the loaded sawn off shotgun was probably the better find than the vehicle. Maybe the heading should have been “AFP find SOS and 6SL in SMV at KFC”. That would have been a lot clearer. /sarc

I think the Police are greatly aided in their work by the level of stupidity of most criminals. I don’t know anything about the bloke arrested but I’m pretty sure those police officers were thanking their lucky stars the guy was inside eating and not in the car with the shot-gun when they arrested him.

Did he try and bat the officers away with a 9 secret herbs and spices drumstick?

Then he got ripped off, what happened to the other 2 herbs and spices???

Yeah, you’ve gotta love crazy criminals, like others said, if I was going to breach bail in the ACT it’d be to a place further than Fyshwick. (I hear the coast of Spain is quite nice)

Is there a link to a source for this story? The only source information I seem to be able to find, is the map of where it happened?

resisting arrest? Did he try and bat the officers away with a 9 secret herbs and spices drumstick?

What’s interesting too is who the alleged car thief was, a name familiar to anyone who follows these things. You’d think that if you absconded you would get out of the ACT, but then we know we’re not dealing with the best and brightest (hence breach of bail allegation).

Does anyone know how cops find stolen cars? (snip) Do they just randomly run plates as they drive about, or do they have a list of stolen car makes/models and numberplates and play a game of grand theft auto bingo? Just curious, as it seems like finding a few cars in a city of cars would be a struggle.

I believe the newly commissioned RAPID system reads plates automagically, without human intervention…

Good old fashioned Police work and knowing what vehicles to look for works as well ……

If he was eating at the Fyshwick KFC, he’s going to need months of rehab at the AMC holiday hotel. I enjoy the occassional wrap or twister, but no longer frequent that outlet, as every time I ate there I ended up with gut rot. I say serves him right, I have no time for oxygen thieves like him. And if this is a spin off of the RAPID system, I say well done that man!

or SCMODS…

Is anyone else bothered by the wide-radius offensive stench of KFC? Whenever I pass the Phillip KFC on my way home along Hindmarsh Dr I can smell it. I dread having to stop at those traffic lights 🙁

No, but the smell of Kingsleys at Lanyon can be smelt for a mile away and makes me feel off everytime I walk nearby.

Good on the cops for getting the car back, finding a missing white Mazda 3 would be hard as it’s not an overly distinctive car. Does anyone know how cops find stolen cars? Ones that aren’t on fire or in a ditch that is. Do they just randomly run plates as they drive about, or do they have a list of stolen car makes/models and numberplates and play a game of grand theft auto bingo? Just curious, as it seems like finding a few cars in a city of cars would be a struggle.

I had KFC a few weeks ago for the first time in years.

And it was BEEEWWWWWDIFUL!

That’s the way Kentuckians celebrate the Colonel’s Birthday, which is today.

Let’s all grab someone else’s car, all our weaponry, wander to the nearest KFC and wish Colonel Sanders a happy [if deceased] 109th birthday!

Mazdas don’t have good anti theft measures then?

Great, now I’m craving KFC for lunch. Harumph!

now if KFC had home delivery to Isabella Plains?

They were lucky to catch him eating the past 2 times I have been to that store they have been out of chicken. Then again it means that maybe they had longer to get him as he would have been told that there is a 20 minute wait for chicken.

I love the fact that he was happy to steal laptops and cars with a firearm, but then paid for his deep fried rabbit. Clearly not a anti-globalisation protester.

I thought the only thing criminal about KFC was the chicken they sell.

Staff wages would battle out the chicken, as far as legalities go.

there was probably a long line for drive thru…

What I want to know is what the police were doing driving past Kentucky Duck? Don’t they eat at Maccas?
