Buying cheap/bulk coconut water in Canberra

I am looking to get some bulk coconut water, probably in the order of 30/40l of the stuff. I am after that weird ‘sickly sweet despite the fact that its only 6% sugar’ Asian grocery stuff rather than the much healthier and boring tasting nudie or other hippie types.

Best price I’ve seen has been 500ml cans at $2 or $3 each, but that’s then stretching out to around $200 for the quantity I need, which is a bit beyond what I’d like to pay.

Anyone know any sweet grey market coconnections?

For some people on here, their daily exercise consists of fishing for compliments and jumping to conclusions.

Tiny jump in ridiculousness there. “OMG! This thing has a potential to become a less than totally safe thing! Let’s not talk about it!”

Glad you revealed your plan. If you hadn’t egged your original posts with a bit of a “man of mystery” effect, the conjecture wouldn’t have arisen. Re the (perfectly reasonable) then conjecture, you think that any Rioters who suggested a source for ingredients for a home-made distilling outfit that led to similar deaths to the grappa episode wouldn’t feel dreadful about it? Or even be somewhat liable?

Hmmm, I suspect some fermentation and distillation on the go here.

I hope OP is aware of the two deaths and one severe brain injury in Queensland from drinking moonshine grappa last June. And the two Australian deaths in Bali from drinking backyard liquor in the last 18 months. Doesn’t sound, from the quantity, like the “grappa per la famiglia” scale of operation re the Queensland incident, more like a commercial operation? (Might be prudent for Rioters to stop participating in this in the form of suggesting where OP can source the ingredients?)

Seriously…. because someone somewhere has died, we should jump to the wrong conclusion and treat someone like they are a child?

There will be no distillation of said coconut water. It will be used instead of water in the fermentation of perfectly safe and legal (albeit experimental and possibly horrible) beer.

…and if we can’t talk about horrible experimental home brew then by god the terrorists have already won.

Kevn’s Christmas shopping list may be:
40L Coconut water
20L Bicardi
40L Pineapple juice
1 plastic bin

2 plastic bins – one for the stuff that goes in, one for the stuff that will come out.

what is the attraction to coconut water anyway? in sydney it’s sold at every street stall…

It could be worth asking at the Food Co-op. When you buy in bulk you get a good discount. However they are closed for Christmas/New Year.

OP, do you like (watery) piña coladas? And getting caught in the rain?

From the quantities sought, sounds like you want to bathe in it. Pics or it didn’t happen…

Green time 510ml $1.95. 10% discount if you buy a dozen or more at Asian supa grocery Belco.

Coconut water is pretty gross by the time it’s been bottled and UHTed. I just buy coconuts which means of course I get a drink AND a snack of nice soft coconut meat. Nummy!

But Coles supermarkets sell a brand called Cocobella in litre bottles and you can just stir in a bit of agave or glucose syrup until you get it how you like it.

Pretty sure I saw big 10 litre bottles at Costco today.
