ABC Online is reporting that despite putting police officers in danger just to get him in front of the court Tent Embassy Leader, Kevin Buzzacott, has been given a suspended sentence. The following quote suggests to me that “whitefella justice” is perhaps trying too hard to be accomodating:

In sentencing, Justice Terrence Connolly paid tribute to the defendant’s work for his people.

Defence lawyer Len Linton says he will appeal the verdict to the High Court.

He’ll need to get his legal aid funding fairly quickly because David Eastman will be back in town next month to spend whatever’s left!

Of course he’s keen to appeal – lots of lovely legal aid money in the trough to be hoovered up.

Plus the added bonus of extra mileage from the original stunt.

High court? Fair dinkum. Of course the taxpayer will have to foot the bill for such a stunt.
