Simon Corbell is banging the drum for more SES volunteers.
“The ACTSES is seeking another six volunteers for its Pialligo Unit based at Fairbairn,” Mr Corbell said.
“We have seen a great demand for our SES volunteers this summer, and they provide a crucial service to the community in times of need,” Mr Corbell said.
“The Pialligo unit is responsible for providing support to the Incident Management Team during emergency operations and for establishing and maintaining radio communications with teams in the field.”
There are a number of other functions that members from this Unit may also become involved with including admin support, catering, driving duties, staging area management and support to other agencies.
The ACT State Emergency Service is a volunteer based organisation within the ACT Emergency Services Agency with legislative responsibility for emergency preparedness and response to storm and floods in the ACT.
“The ACTSES current has 228 volunteer members and has responded to more than 2600 calls for help from the public this financial year,” Mr Corbell said.
One has to wonder why six vacancies popped up all at once.
