Hi, I’m a first year photography student at the ANU school of art and I’m currently working on a series of photographs featuring people with interesting or unusual collections or hobbies. If you or someone you know has an interest that I might find interesting, and wouldn’t mind having a few photos taken please contact me! In return for your time I will send you a large format finished print when the series is done.

My email is brynarose@hotmail.com

Cheers

Bryna just photographed me with my collection of fish vases (that is, vases in the shape of fish; a really weird concept) and it was an enjoyable experience. Anyone who has been a bit shy about their collection should email her as I think she still needs a couple more for her project.

You too I have 18 at last count

I’m jealous. I’ve only managed 11 so far. 🙂

There are a couple of collections at ANU that were donated by private individuals I think – ancient coins and old rocks come to mind. Maybe you could ask ANU …

Also, you could contact The Collectors’ producer (just don’t mention Muirhead!) who will be able to tell you whether they filmed any amazing collections in Canberra over the years.

The woman who owns April’s Caravan at the outer lyneham shops has an INCREDIBLE collection of 50s stuff.

And there’s that journo at the Canberra Times who owns hundreds of manual typewriters … Robert somebody?

Robbie Swan of the hideous Eros “Foundation” has a museum’s worth of porn and paraphernalia that he in fact used to house in a “museum” in the city.

Some of the conservators at the museums have their own private collections – worth asking around.

What exactly is your problem with sex?

I have a couple. They have unbelievable claims to cure all that ails you…

So, did they work? Laudanum would cure a hangover, I think…

I actually have one of the world’s largest collections of memorabilia from the rock musical “HAiR” – recordings, posters, programmes, t-shirts, and a few extremely rare bits and pieces (programme signed by the original Broadway cast, crew and creators, a champagne glass from the first anniversary of the Sydney production, Playbill from the pre-Broadway production, etc)

Unfortunately like some of the others here, my collection is currently packed away, not set up for display/photographing, so I’d be another one to keep in mind if this becomes an ongoing project 😉

Wow that sounds impressive, I will certainly keep you in mind for future photos!

I have lots of pottery, mostly Australian including some Boyd pieces.

Mostly jugs, I have a thing for jugs. Indeed I have been known to declare that I have a nice set of jugs….

Anyhoo, happy for pics.

Sounds great! Please email me and we can discuss a time to take some photos

Very interesting, could you send me an email with more details? brynarose@hotmail.com

OP hasn’t said ‘shoot me an email’ on the basis of this? (-:

I collect and restore Blythe dolls and I am rather obsessive about them. I’d be happy to help you out. kuolemantuoja@gmail.com

Oh wow.

Do you have any for sale? Me and wife love them but so expensive importing. Only have one so far.

Blythe dolls are great – they’re like emo Bratz …

-_-

Sorry brynarose, due to renovations, all my stuff is wrapped and in the roof until I get my man cave back.

No problem, I’m thinking of doing this as an ongoing project so if you feel like showing off your collection once it has been moved back into the man cave, whenever that may be – please send me an email!

Will keep in mind. Sadly for you I donated a heap of toys to the local youth because of space restrictions.
Still have a bunch of toys, dolls and nerd statues though. Also thousands of comics.

Sounds like the premise for a funny little French movie I highly recommend: http://www.sbs.com.au/films/movie/1728/The-Dinner-Game

My husband has 40kg of lego catalogued and sorted by model under the house. I find that odd enough, will pass on the request to him. Good luck!

Pretty tame for a LEGO collector.

I’d love to show of my various collections, but then they would be made public. And I don’t want to be Muirheaded.

If I wasn’t so conscious about it, I’d let you photography me with my Animal Husbundry and Colonic Irrigation Self Administraton class at Tafe.

Gold. 😀
