Calwell comes second with Kokoda

The ABC has this story on Calwell High taking second place in the National Rock Eisteddfod. Not only has Calwell achieved something that no other school outside NSW or Vic has done but they did it on a tiny budget (only about $4 grand), from a small school that only goes to year 10 and using subject matter that is way outside the norm for eisteddfod fodder. Well done those kids.

If anyone has any footage (Youtube news stuff or even better personal videos) send it in, it would be great to have it up for all to see.

I went to Calwell… The year i did the rock, we did the olympics (1996), and we got in trouble from the IOC!

But congrats to the kids… I remember what the dance hall was like… and the night training… gah!

Hmmm, where shall I send my children to…Queanbeyan HS or Calwell High .

I once got deployed at Calwell High as professional experience as part of a degree, and for all the other social problems[1] the school has, the staff there are wonderful people, quite professional, and put a tremendous amount of effort into organising and then keeping the kids interested and motivated about the Eisteddfod.
