Campos Coffee in Civic? Or just some decent decaff?

Does anyone know where I can get a cup of Campos Coffee in Civic? We have a love affair, and I haven’t had a good cup of joe in a very long time.

Or perhaps you can suggest somewhere this pregnant lady can get a decent decaff in this town. Harvest didn’t do it for me, and the coffee shop downstairs from my work gave me caffeinated coffee instead of decaff…

Have you tried a cup of my famous Java?

And while you are asleep on my couch, please excuse me if your breasts need adjusting.

Steve Martin used to be funny. What happened?

I assume that you provide that as an example of how he is no longer funny.

Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid is a fantastic movie, one of his earlier works. Like Monty Python quotes, they often aren’t funny read in isolation.

Sexual assault needs a context to be funny. I see.

Benny Hill? Any number of other comedies. In fact, I’d be surprised if something similar wasn’t common in movies and TV shows still. In Californication the other night the Tim MInchin rock star character slipped his wife a Stilnox (it’s called Ambien in the USA), though admittedly it was so he could have sex with someone else not with her. Still not very kosher.

Comedy will never be PC. I can make Irish jokes, you can’t. Woody Allen can make Jewish jokes, I can’t. Bill Cosby can make black (African American) jokes, Woody and I can’t.

Perhaps it should be PC, but we have a long way to go.

Remember Love Thy Neighbour? That was considered “comedy” back in the whenever-it-was. Just appalling now. It’s never fair to judge any era by current standards, lowbrow humour doubly so.
Never a question of right or wrong, of course … merely what contemporary society would permit.

.

Actually, I’ve heard Channel Seven will be making a revival of Love Thy Neighbour. Cory Bernardi will be playing Eddie Booth and the couple from Trinidad will be replaced by a gay couple.

Farmers Daughter claims to be the only place in Canberra that sells Campos.

I don’t think they do claim that, and they’re not. Good Brother in Dickson has used it for a few months now.

Should have said ‘claimed’ as it wasn’t that recent. That said Good Brother’s adoption of Campos might be a moot point if the reviews on Bean Hunter are anything to go by.

Certainly more likely to be funny in a certain context than out of.

ftr, I have no idea about the coffee in question. Modern society’s obsession with coffee and needing to get coffee to fill every idle moment and endlessly complaining about the quality of said coffee does my head in.

what is Campos Coffee? for the uninitiated

It’s a brand of coffee roaster with it’s own cafes and who wholesale to others, kind of like Ona. Farmers Daughter claims to be the only place in Canberra that sells Campos.

I’m afraid decaf is an after thought for most cafes, they just keep some powder on hand for those who occasionally need it. I don’t know of any who have a dedicated grinder.

I saw the heading and I thought Terry Campese had followed what Simon Woolford did a few years ago and opened a chain of cafes/coffee shops.

Terry’s uncle David already did that. Except they were sports stores in Sydney.

Is it a surgical procedure they use to replace sense of humour with excessive arrogance and righteousness in feminists or is it evolutionary thing?

The bald truth is it would have lasted half a season before the business was on it’s knees…

I had a coffee at Farmer’s Daughter in the Canberra Centre and it was bitter and unpleasant, so I assume they are using Campos Coffee.

Why people (particular those from Sydney) like that brand I will never know. Awful.

Ain’t that the truth. For their sake I hope they don’t have the same pretentious, spend more time looking in the mirror, staff as they have in their Yarralumla shop. Yes they are lovely to look at but the service is slow and unreliable. Coffee can be anywhere from a 8/10 down to a 4/10. They are certainly no ONA.

You beauty RiotACT! I knew there had to be somewhere as I had spied a discarded campos coffee cup just outside my work… You’ve made this lady very happy 🙂

I went to Farmer’s Daughter a week or two ago. I confirm that they do indeed serve Campos coffee and that it is delicious.

Hello Nancy
I believe Farmer’s Daughter (who have just opened a kiosk in the Canberra Centre inside near Jamie’s Italian and Fitness First) serve Campos.

Or, if you are ever at ANU, The Gods in the Hedley Bull building also serves Campos coffee.

Good luck!

I believe Farmers Daughter has just opened up outside Fitness First and they do Campos in Yarralumla (so I’m presuming they also do it in Civic). I haven’t tried it, but look forward to hearing about it.

There’s a little cafe that’s opened up downstairs in the Canberra Center just outside Fitness First (or beside Jamie’s, for those not athletically minded). The name escapes me now, but they definitely serve Campos coffee. The sandwiches are excellent as well, and the staff seem lovely.
