Can anyone recommend a day spa for the older woman?

Mother’s birthday is approaching and I’d like to get her some type of spa or day retreat type treatment. Can any of you recommend a decent place in Canberra?

BTW she’s in her mid sixties.

Cheers.

Expensive but lovely… Mudd the Spa at Barton (under hotel Realm)
LOVE that place!! So relaxing and it is very high end, so you feel like a princess… I have been able to afford it exactly once though 😉

My mum (of the same age) loves the one at Garran shops – nice and relaxing. also small so you are less likely to get a trainee. prices were reasonable last time I looked.

What am I saying – they’re all pricey. Which is why they make a nice gift – not something you’d buy for yourself.

I would recommend the one at Diamante hotel in Acton. Just can’t remember the name of the spa. Once you have finished at the spa you can make use of the other hotel facilities – bar, cafe, restaurant. It’s relaxed and they don’t push products on you.

I think its called Soma? I’ve heard good things about it – but could be pricey, it really depends what she’d be comfortable with.

Mid sixties is hardly elderly and frail.

I’d recommend that as a great swap! I wonder if I can exchange one for the mother-in-law.

Try Griffin Day Spa in Kingston opposite the IGA supermarket. http://www.griffinhotels.com/DaySpa/ very good with elderly and frail oldies.

I’ve wanted to try Geranium House out near Hall. I’ve heard good things about it. http://www.geraniumhouse.com.au/

Sounds like she probably wants relaxation rather than ‘cosmeceuticals’, ‘we deal exclusively with this brand’ and a product push at the end of her treatment. Nothing brings down a relaxing session in a day spa, like having a lecture at the end of your treatment, seeing the price of the products, and having to make your excuses.

I’d try any of the following;

http://www.jindii.com.au/ (weston area)
http://www.geraniumhouse.com.au/ (hall area)
http://www.ginashumantuning.com.au/ (woden area)
http://www.thewellretreat.com.au/Spa.html (gungahlin area)

The focus of these places seems to be more on the experience. From my own shopping around, many places will provide day spa services, but they make their money in pushing certain products.

Hope she enjoys wherever you pick!

My mum and I would recommend Essence in Phillip or Griffith.
