The ABC has an article about spook-cum-kook, Steve Pratt, and his apparent backdown from the withdrawal of the Fire Levy (otherwise known as the arse covering chest), due to the ACT Liberals party line of abolishing the utilities tax.

“The Opposition at this point is calling for the withdrawal of one tax and that doesn’t include the fire levy,” said Pratt.

“It’s hypocrisy, it’s inconsistent, they’re in a shamble,” said the CM

“who gives a f**k?” said Canberra

Ahhh … democracy – giving us the representatives we deserve…

Jon Stanhope, the so-called local ‘government’ and the so-called opposition are all full of sh*t.

The government and Jon Stanhope are a disgrace because of their economic mismanagement. Fire levy? Just heaping more taxes and rates on Canberrans. Tax us til we bleed Jon!

The opposition? Get your act together you losers.

That’s the glory of the Canberra Liberals caf. They are like ninjas.

They release policy, nobody notices.
They stand in elections, nobody votes for them.
Unseen.

NINJA!

I reckon the ABC buried the lead in the last paragraph:

Mr Stanhope says the Liberals know they cannot afford the $70 million worth of spending promises they have made in the last week and keep the budget in surplus.

$70 million? How did they manage to announce $70 million worth of spending (which is quite considerable in the context of the ACT budget) without making so much as a ripple?
