isabelle on a peugot

This in from Isabelle:

The bike in question is a black 1980s Peugeot ladies step though with white wall tires and a brown wicker basket.

My mum bought it when we lived over seas 15 years ago so it’s a sentimental loss as well as a practical one.

It was stolen from the Ainslie shops near Pulp Kitchen (where I work) on Saturday 21/1/12 where I had locked it to a tree.

I’ve filed a police report but haven’t heard anything yet and I’m most distressed by the loss.

Anyone able to help?

No help here but I’ll keep an eye out.

I used to own a Peugeot mountain bike in Europe. And my current bike is a Gazelle I brought over from Europe 10 years ago, so I truly sympathise. I had it stolen from the front of my house a couple of months ago. But a neighbour found it in a bush in the nearby park with a flat tyre and returned it before I had even noticed it was gone. First time ever that I felt happy about a flat tyre!

Have you asked the tree? It might help you get to the root of your problem. Failing that you could call Special Branch. Whatever you do though, don’t leave this case until you catch the sap who stole your bike.

Good luck. My daughter’s new bike was stolen a couple of weeks ago. We don’t expect to ever see it again.

Have you tried “The Village”?

The verge and parks near there seem to be the dumping spots. Would be worth a walk around if you’re brave.

If you do get confronted by any of “Them” just say:

“Stay back! I have steady employment and live cleanly.”

That should drive “Them” back.

Why not stake out Hipster St Roasters. That’s the most obvious place for try-hard, fixie riding hipsters to show up. Good chance of spotting the bike there.

Sorry, I can’t resist..
