Canada and Australia have always had much in common, including a shared dedication to cancer research. Cancer is the number one cause of death in Australia. Research into this disease is our best hope for reducing the risk. While advances are being made in both countries, it is vital that we continue to support cancer research.

To that end, the Canadian High Commission is proud to invite you to join them for their 19th annual run/walk for cancer research.

All the money raised at this family event goes directly to The Cancer Council ACT for the benefit of all Canberrans.

Pancake Brunch: Pancakes with maple syrup, fresh fruit, and hot tea/coffee are available after the event to all participants.

Mind you, this one (Canada/Cancer Council) is primarily a Fund Run…

It’s called an oxymoron, CK. There’s little fun in the run, but by ***** it feels good when you stop! A photo of me crossing the line at City to Surf last year looks positively post-coital!!

Fun. Run. What’s wrong with this people?

Ah, yes. I meant to mention that this is: ‘The Fun Run Formerly Known As The “Terry Fox Fun Run”‘.

Not sure why they dropped the late runner’s name from the title.

Did someone say pancakes?

I think this may be the old ‘Terry Fox Fun Run’. I attended two when last posted here, and both times were a blast!

The first in particular was a very cold blast (about three below). But http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN10035.shtml says this Sunday will be in positive territory:

Sunday Fine, mostly sunny. Min 2 Max 14

So give it a go. It’s a fantastic time for a great cause. And there are pancakes!

I must admit, medical researchers must be absolutely jumping for joy with an ageing population.

Ample supply of cadavers and trial participants for them to fiddle with. Its like to the armies in the two world wars without the small problems of desertion and death.
