When CIT student Steve Worthington decided to take one of his designs to the public, he had no idea that he would become only the fifth ever successful Canberran Kickstarter. Kickstarter is a world wide crowd-funding application, but one that it seems Canberrans have not really discovered. Kickstarter has only had thirteen projects registered in the ACT, five of which have failed, five succeeded and three are currently open.

Steve’s Sploosh dishes grew from one of his classes where students were experimenting with forms and shapes. The cardboard splash Steve created has become so much more, with the first planned run of sets of brilliantly coloured anodised dishes flying past it’s startup goal of $2200. With kickstarter investors from all over Australia and even as far as Europe, Steve is on his way towards making a creative dream come true.

Candle/tea-light holder, petals/buds, pot-pourri . . .

Making the rings different colours would add interest – maybe just the centre one a different colour.

Yeah – I like ’em. Pleasingly playful. Good stuff, Steve!

What is it for, what does it do?

Sorry, but when I first saw the pic, before I opened the post I thought it was some new pee pad thing to go in urinals……. in my defence the title did say makes a splash?
