Papadoc I enjoyed the bulletin – It was awesome.

to be totally anally correct – the public holiday for canberra day is a monday – the 19th of march.
How do I know ?

I get the public holiday off for my birthday this year !!

Mate, what we have here is a failure to commmunicate.

The ACT Government has been assiduously spruiking around that Canberra’s 94th birthday will be riotously celebrated on the 11th of March, while you are hosting a webpage that advertises Canberra as an 18 year old, Piscean, male. It just strikes me as odd. Funny, but odd.

To be fair, 11 March DOES mean Canberra is a Pisces.

No Poptop, I am in fact an Aries.

Now let me pose a question…

When you attempt to find a single mother to join you in that extra marital affair you so deeply crave, do you search for those your own age, or a little bit younger? My target audience is the 18-30 year old market so therefore I place myself at the bottom of the search spectrum which gains me the wider audience. That is the only reason. And why are you so hung up about my age? If it’s for the obvious reason, I apologise, but I don’t swing that way. Sorry Mate…

Everytime I see that name, I can’t get papa lazarou out of my head…

papadoc [may I call you ‘Mate’ too?], I didn’t comment on your age and so my disappointment is significantly moderated.

The myspace page you generously and iteratively shared, clearly states that Canberra is an 18 year old male and is a Pisces!

Perhaps we should all drop by for the birthday celebration which must be just around the corner.

Are you a Pisces too?

and I’m proud to say that ill NEVER have a period in my life

Embarrassedly looks at suit jacket hanging in corner….
Sammy: I’m proud to say I’ve never had a period in my life. 🙂

Just in response to schmerica_’s comment. It’s really not relevant at all, but I just found it interesting. Thanks for signing up into my Friends list, I hope you enjoyed the bulletin. But just quickly, it was a bulletin I’d posted up, hence being on the bulletin board and not my site…

Anybody can go to the Phoenix, all you need is $10 to invest in a complete wardrobe at any vinnies store in town, and waltz on in in your newfound accroutements.

The Guinness is the freshest in Canberra, chug 4 of them and you’ll be a local in no time.

Im 20 and although I think the myspace page is a good idea… How is reporting on Anna Nicole Smith relevant to events happening in Canberra? That’s one thing I like about this site. It typically won’t contain dribble regarding cities in other parts of the country, let alone overseas, that don’t relate to Canberra.

I’m not old enough to go to the Phoenix yet.

Sorry to disappoint you poptop, but I’m actually 24.

While coming to grips with my surprise ‘Mate’ relationship with papadoc, I popped over to Canberra’s myspace to see whether I had misjudged the situation.

I have learnt that Canberra claims to be an 18 year old male.

O.O

I haven’t been to the Phoenix since I turned 30 and gave up smoking!

You mean you’re a nude trapeze artist as well as a photographer-chef?

Still to find a job that will incorporate ALL my hobbies into one.

Ill leave it to everyones imagination how I use the trapeze when I have a frypan in one hand and a camera in the other.

Phoenix rocks – stale beer and cigarette smell – mercury ales – good live music and plenty of dark corners to feverishly grope and couple with your “Buddy System” partner of choice for the night, and im well off 30-something

Papadoc,

If you feel you have a story of interest to our readership please feel free to hit the ‘submit news’ link at the top of the page. You would be surprised at the demographic you might reach.
Not just those you are targeting, but those 30 somethings in the phoenix bar might raise their world weary heads and get an appreciation for the interests and issues affecting canberra’s youth.

“my high school agers do the myspace thing all the time.”

They do right now, what are they going to do in five minutes time?

Already a majority of myspace users are over 35.

When the kids all flit off to the next big thing it’s going to be a bugger moving the archives over.

papadoc, I think you’ve targeted your market well – my high school agers do the myspace thing all the time.

And the raging arguments that go on here, merely aggravate my incontinence…

You mean you’re a nude trapeze artist as well as a photographer-chef?

Only suit I wear to work is my birthday one !!

“…can get some decent info on local youth events as opposed to the more mature content held within this site.”

That’s fine by me, I’d rather stick with the more mature content anyway. Good luck with it, p’doc.

ahh, im almost half of 30 (!!!)

for fucks sake, it seems like every man and his dog now has myspace *head bang*

stereotype everyone who contributes here as a middle aged fart

Well i’m 31, but i’m proud to say i’ve never had a period in my life where i’ve had to wear a suit everyday.

“”And how nice of you to stereotype everyone who contributes here as a middle aged fart. Great way to get everyone off side, Mr Papadoc.(I’m well short of 30.) “”

Here here!! I too am well short of 30 and know many people my age and younger who visit this website everyday. I actually tend to find this website has more information about current issues in the ACT than the local paper or news!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion – However, Thanks guys keep up the good work

So we all have to get our own Canberra websites now?!?

My grandfather used to tell me who Papadoc was – some dude in Haiti I think – so this person who has adopted his name must be in his/her 50’s or 60’s I think.

“And how nice of you to stereotype everyone who contributes here as a middle aged fart. Great way to get everyone off side, Mr Papadoc.”

Your words el, not mine…

I have no issues with the people who make this site as good as it is, I don’t know how many times I have to say that. My only issue is with those who continue to judge without making an effort themselves. I’m not going to defend my comments any longer. I enjoy this site and I’m not going to ruin it by having slanging matches all day. People will be their own judge and if you wanna check out my page, then please do. If not, I’m not offended.

Just don’t judge me without making an effort to change things yourselves. is that being unreasonable?

papadoc p0wn3d j00 h4t3rZ!!

It’s a.. nicer site than most MySpace design trowel of +10 epilepsy autopsy.

Splurge dude, get your own space and dump a CMS in it.

And how nice of you to stereotype everyone who contributes here as a middle aged fart. Great way to get everyone off side, Mr Papadoc.

(I’m well short of 30.)

I apologise for dropping it in another section and I appreciate what was done with it. I mean no offence to you johnboy, I’ve just read enough of this site to realise that people like poptop seem to abuse outsiders like this was their own private sanctuary and we’re nothing but intruders.

I’ll keep kissing your butt because your site rocks and I don’t mean to offend by not posting my news here. It’s just that the god awful banners that I get posted up are the reason for the sites survival and MySpace is a good forum for myself because there are lots of young people who utilise it and they’re my targeted audience.

I have nothing but love for the RiotAct crew and the ‘tude was never meant for you guys. keep up the good work…

Chill with ‘tude dude, you’ve got yourself a high rated link to your site despite being more than a little ill mannered in dropping it off topic in another section.

You were more than welcome to bring news of events that interest you here (BTW not so many suits in the phoenix bar), but you want to try something for yourself so that’s great.

I think you’ve made a mistake with using myspace (witness the ghastly banners your “friends” adorn your page with) but we’ve all gotta learn somewhere.

In the words of the famous “He got his own damn website”.

OMG I’m not under 30 and enjoy the Phoenix Bar…

I’m finally a steriotype!

Ho-Hum another piss poor attack from the RiotAct crew. As a young, loyal RiotAct reader I decided to set up a spot where all the MySpace kids of today can get some decent info on local youth events as opposed to the more mature content held within this site.

I’m sorry, but isn’t riotACT “a place where you can get the latest news and reviews on anything that happens in this beautiful city”?

Not if you’re under 30 and don’t enjoy the Phoenix Bar.

It may come as a surprise to some of you suits that in fact, kids today don’t all spend the night defacing public property, taking drugs or breaking into cars. Some of us enjoy having a night out listening to music, dancing and generally enjoying life. The reason I made this post in the first place was to get reach your younger readers who are very rarely targeted by your posts and to let them know that there is an alternative.

In response to the comment left by “poptop” Mate, I couldn’t give a rats arse whether you sign up or not. Love it or hate it, your opinion isn’t worth sh*t to anyone targeted by my site. I guess it’s just easier to judge when you haven’t done anything worth caring about. I can accept constructive critism, but when middle aged, self centred clowns like yourself start to degrade something that they wouldn’t do because they think the world owes them a favor, it becomes obvious as to why our city is being turned from the beautiful welcoming place it once was into a pathetic Sydney junior. Either offer up something we all care about champ, or blow it out ya arse. At least I’m trying to help.

Johnboy, I appreciate what you guys are doing on this site and as I said earlier, I read it on a daily basis. You guys do a great job keeping us informed and thanks for the good luck wishes. All the best to you guys as well and if I get anything that I think would be more useful to your site, I will pass it on.

Sammy, I am a shocker for that rule. Beleive me 🙂

I’m sorry, but isn’t riotACT “a place where you can get the latest news and reviews on anything that happens in this beautiful city”?

Well I guess this is another one. Good luck to them.

I assume it is so our lack of interest and extensive critiquing will prevent future enthusiasts doing the same thing.

Rather like hanging dead crows on the fence.

Presumably the reiteration of the URL is to override our usual lethargy and inspire us to race immediately to myspace and sign up as Friends of Canberra.

Even that **** has rss feed. not to hint Johnboy

Must be a real slow news day… *yawn*

*groan* Yet another person asleep during the ‘i’ before ‘e’ except after ‘c’ lesson.
