Good grief! A whole paragraph (and a big one too) on local Canberra bands in The Age.
If my national focus this week is still too broad for you, then I’m happy to drill down even further and mention a few Canberra acts that’re making some very pleasing noise right now. Guys such as Super Best Friends, Stateovmind, Julia & the Deep Sea Sirens and Waterford all come to mind when thinking of great local talent. Similarly I have to give a shout out to the Readable Graffiti gang for the frenzied electro they’re making. Fun Machine are another name to add to your radar, especially with the track Ready For the Fight, which basks in the glow of big chamber-pop glory. This tune’s got a bit of something for everyone from tribal (a tribe of hipsters, albeit) chanting, multitracked vocals and bouncing piano pumps that live up to the band’s name. Because really, if you’re named Fun Machine, what’s the point in making downtuned glitch epics? This is just too much fun.
