Thanks to Christoph Zierholz for sending it in, it turns out that a number of Canberra Brewers did very well over the weekend at the national homebrewing championship.

Craig Webber won the British and Irish Ale category with his Irish Ale, the Pale Lager with a German Pilsner, the Dark Lager with a Schwarzbier, and the Australian Lager. This gave him the title of Champion Brewer.

Daniel Rayner won with with his Imperial Stout in the Strong Ale Category, which also won Beer of Show.

Between the two of them and some minor placings to Ross Mitchell and Rod Campbell the ACT was crowned Best State of Show!

daniel rayner – imperial stout – wig and pen right ?

excellent beer.

These are home brewers, not commercial brewers Snarky. Except Zierholz, Zierholz p0WnZ jo aZZ.

It’s a good city for beer. Support your local breweries, Wig and Pen and Zierholz, as well as places that stock good regional beers! Just tried a new bottled pale ale (though it was branded as a pilsener) from the Southern Highlands called Leatherjacket. But everything from Zierholz is good, and most of Wig and Pen’s stuff is great too. Hope these home brewers expand the industry in this town. Good work. Schwarzbiers all round!

These will be in very small batches and not available to the general public.

RiotACT has been offered a tasting but thought that might be a bit cruel to the rest of you.

Anyone know where I can buy these? Are they draught only, or bottled too?

We rock, as usual.

Go you good things!

Good work you Canberra brewers
