Canberra Carrotmob

I like to shop sustainably, and in Canberra we have some fine retailers who are helping people do that with produce and products that are free-range, local, organic or fair trade.

But any type of retail business can be rewarded for taking steps towards lowering their carbon footprint when they participate in a Carrotmob event.

As you read this, a Carrotmob is amassing in the suburbs of Canberra, getting ready to descend upon one lucky business with pockets stuffed full of buying power. Our first Carrotmob event is scheduled for late May. To get on board, join our Facebook group, or contact carrotmob@love40percent.org.

Ugh. The words ‘sustainable’ and ‘carbon footprint’ makes me cringe every time.

11th of June: mark it in your calendars, people of Canberra. Go to the Ainslie IGA Supermarket anytime on that day for the first ACT Carrotmob event. Owner Manuel Xyrakis will commit 100% of that day’s takings to making alterations to reduce his carbon footprint.

Get more for your money than just your weekly groceries – get to be part of a solution to climate change, and to join in a fun community event with live bands, bbq, and fun and games for the kids.

Join the mob that’s creating a more sustainable community at http://www.carrotmob.love40percent.org, or simply mention Carrotmob when you shop on the day.
