I just heard from a work colleague who has just came back from her lunch break that the entire Canberra Centre has been evacuated.

Does anyone have any idea why?

Apparently there are lots of people everywhere…

Thats odd, on the 12th there was an evacuation as well. A worker in Supabarn overcooked a chicken causing alarms in the new section(according to my manager) and then alarms running another 5mins after another fool decided to turn the oven, which the chicken was in, back on. Although this was around 12 and 1.

It was to try and get them to head over to Civic West, as the shop owners are angrily going broke. ACT Stateline tonight had the guy from Smith’s, and Cataldo’s, having a real go about it.

I work next door, was a shortlived panic around 3pm but they didnt evacuate our building. Only around 15 minutes of people wandering the streets & sirens. Apparently an accident according to our building warden dude.

yup it happened today…. about 3ish… firies and stuff turned up… it was just the old section evacuated.

A work colleague said the same thing happened there yesterday (late morning) also.

Having worked in the centre ages ago often evacuations were caused by kids going through fire exits or evacuation drills.

I was there last week and nothing, so it must have been after then…

I had a curry last night and was walking briskly, and, well, you know…

I was in there between 12.30 and 1pm and nothing, so it must have been after then…
