11:15am Thursday 5 August 2010 – Small fire extinguished at Canberra Centre ACT Fire Brigade has extinguished a small fire at a business inside the Canberra Centre, Bunda Street, City.
Firefighters are conducting salvage work and ventilating the area. Ground floor and lower ground floor has been evacuated.
Crews were notified following an automatic fire alarm at 10.46am and confirmed by an Emergency Triple Zero (000) call.
We’ve been hearing reports of Daleks in the Canberra Centre. Can it possibly be unrelated?

11:40am Thursday 5 August 2010 – Update on small fire at Canberra Centre Three ACT Fire Brigade Pumpers, the specialist Hazmat unit and the Breathing Apparatus Van in attendance.
Crews continuing ventilation of the area and atmospheric monitoring.
Minimal damage to business.

ACT Policing is investigating a suspicious fire at a fabrics retail store in the Canberra Centre.
Police were called to the location around 10.55am this morning (Thursday August 5) in response to a fire within the Lincraft store. Police assisted in evacuating members of the public from one wing of the centre. The wing was evacuated for around one hour while the fire was extinguished by ACT Fire Brigade.
At this stage, the cost of the damage to the store is unknown.
AFP Forensic Services are conducting an examination of the scene.
