Canberra Comet makes First Class/ International debut

By Thumper 2 August 2006 3

In a match that means very little in world terms, unless you happen to be playing, Canberra batsman Stewart Heaney has made his first class and international debut playing for Canada against Kenya.

Although Kenya and Canada are not thought of as world powers, it must be noted that Kenya almost made the semi finals of the world cup last time around, and Canada’s Australian born opening batsman/ off spinner holds the record fastest century in a world cup when he blitzed no less than the West Indies in a moosefest of 111 off about 70 balls.

Stewart Heaney was born in Canada.

Scores at crincinfo.

Heaney’s personal stats are also on cricinfo.

Good to see the Canberra Times pick this up as a small article yesterday (Sunday)

Does anyone think that they may have read RA?

Not in winter, anyway!

Actually, Stewie made his international debut earlier in a one day international. This is his first class debut, which happens to be an international.

My God, Canada plays cricket? I thought it was all baseball, ice hockey, rugby and curling over there.

I bet they don’t play cricket in Quebec.
