Canberra Cricketers excellent adventures

By Thumper 18 October 2005 4

With the advent of the cricket season, albeit, wet and cold in canberra, i thought I’d have a look around the State squads and see how canberrans are fairing.

First up, ex Ginninderra wicketkeeper batsman Dave Dawson, is batting at number three for Tasmania, having a solid first up knock of 55 against a Queensland side chock full of Australian players.

Scorecard Here

Ex Comets quick bowler Darren mcNees is not in the team at present.

And in other news, Mark Higgs, Ex Comets, NSW and Australian player, has been selected in the South Australian Redbacks one day side to play New South Wales this weekend. Former Comet and SA player, Jack Smith, appears to be on the outer as he no longer in the squad.

More on other ex ACT players when news comes to hand.

Comets got thumped by about 160 runs. Theywere chasing about 400 on the last day and were knocked over for around 240 or 250.

I think Heaney got a half ton but I’m not sure.

Interesting, Thumper. I didn’t catch the result in last week’s Comets/SA game – what happened?

And I should have added that ex Comet and current NSW and Australian keeper, Brad Haddin, will be facing up to his old mate Higgsy in the SA v NSW match.

Former Comets keeper/ batsman cam McLeod has moved to Queensland and is rumoured to be on the brink of being selected in their second XI.
