Canberra Data Centres gets the CrimTrac contract

johnboy 1 June 2010 5

ARNet brings word that Canberra Data Centres is going to be hosting a vast array of law enforcement data at it’s Hume facility:

As part of the deal, 50,000 police officers will have access to DNA and fingerprint records as well as the Australian National Child Offender Register and other databases. The new hub, dubbed CrimTrac, will act as a central point for all Australian police forces. It will be based out of its Hume centre in the ACT.

Having it in Canberra at least makes it convenient for the ASIO audit.

J-T-K – This data centre already exists, it is the building with no signs and two large diesel generators located about 20 metres away from the LPG gas tank at the Woolworths service station.
Now how easy is it to erase that data LOL.

Isn’t CDC owned by the same mob who own some sex shops around town? Not sure if there is some irony there or not.

aaah CRIMTRAK, if only it held just the details of criminals and not law abiding citizens! How easy would it be for a mistake to take place if you happen to be listed between a Paedo and a rapist?

The ‘ASIO’ audit can be done by any of a number of private individuals, anywhere that is convenient.

Noooooo —-

Now the criminals DNA will get mixed with the wood smoke, polluting the delightful Hume valley. I thought us NIMBYs decided not to build the data centre.

It will also make the environment more attractive to the criminal elements, wanting their data back.

Ban it I say – Ban it!
