Canberra Day celebrated with a sausage sizzle

I wandered down to have a sausage and a can of soft drink on Civic Walk today to continue Canberra’s birthday celebrations. A reasonable crowd were hanging out watching the ceremony on TV, a small queue had formed for the traditional sausage on white bread, and it wasn’t a bad way to spend a lunch break. It wasn’t quite what I pictured when told the event was a ‘toast‘ to Canberra, but I am not a man who complains about a sausage sizzle. Because sausage sizzles are awesome.

The guy serving me did give me the crusty end bit of the loaf though. I was sad for a bit, then there was cake.

All in all a win.

Also of note is the fact I managed to walk all the way through Civic Walk without encountering a single chugger. Did they clear them out? How? Why don’t they do this all the time?

Because the fire hose uses too much water?
