Canberra Day Fireworks on Rain Days?

Being a relative newcomer to Canberra perhaps one of our more experienced Canberrans can let me know what the usual policy is for fireworks on rainy days is?

Do the fireworks go ahead regardless, or are they cancelled/ rescheduled in the event of rain?

I recall having attended a couple of lacklustre fireworks displays in Canberra (New years being the most forgettable)–and one really good one. Is the Canberra day firework show one of the better ones or is it over in 5 minutes?

Many thanks.

Actually last night’s were loud enough to upset the dogs in O’Connor

So why weren’t these fireworks banned then? And did the RSPCA gear up for a huge increase in lost dogs?

With the Enlighten events going on where will be the best vantage points for those on Southside?

Ah, skyfire–that’s the one. many thanks. Glad I was dissuaded from going to the Canberra Day fireworks by the rain. thank you for the info.

Only really big storms will lead to cancellation or delay usually. I have been to a few skyfires and others where we have huddled beneith the picnic blanket waiting for the sky to light up.

Skyfire and NYE fireworks are usually around 15mins+, any other displays are usually shorter 5-10 mins.

Canberra Day..no sparks. Wait for the weekend that follows sponsored by a radio station and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. 19th March, 2011. I’ll be there.

At a guess it will be a 5 minute one, though I don’t know for sure. Next weekend will be the big one with Skyfire.
