I agree. So why remove the representation of the country that has had the greatest influence in making Australia what it is today, and replace it with the representation of a much smaller influence? That doesn’t seem to make much sense.

I think coming up with an entirely new flag would be a better option.

Who do you think sent the Irish here? Who created the colonies that allowed for further settlement by other nationalities? Where did our laws and legal system come from? What language is our official one? Who sent us into our first international conflict as a nation? Which head of state signed the documents of federation and granted us self determination? Why have we been a part of the Commonwealth all these years?

Combination of red, black and yellow colours against the blue irritates my eyes, to be honest.
