This in from Mossrocket:

G’day,
After finding some P. Subs on the nature strip, a friend and I went for a walk through Urambi Hills.
Last night I was inspired to create a Kaleidoscope.
A little love letter to the city we live in.
Pretty and abstract, smoke and mirrors.
Canberra.

Thanks mate, I’ll look into it..

Sorry Ben, No tutorial – I worked it out via trial and error.
Since that first effort, I found the awesome CC Kaleido plugin in After Effects, which takes all the maths out of the equation and lets you play instead… Final Cut Pro also has a kaleidoscope plugin, if you are that way inclined…
I would recommend that instead – I was able to do the same sort of kaleidoscopes in a couple of minutes that was taking me a couple of hours to fiddle with.

I used three mirror effects (60, -60, and 0 degrees) and animated them (to +-90, or +-120 degrees)…. It’s edited in Premiere Pro.

Can you point me at a tutorial or the like please?

Don’t know Ben but music produced by electronic bands such as Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk circa 70s would be perfectly suited to productions such as this or the one you did.

I think there is a kaleidoscope effect in After effects, I might give that a go on #2. This took a while to get ‘right’…though animating the mirror effects was fun to play around with.

The music is by William Orbit – Paradisum Caheso

Brilliant, how did you do them? Software?
