Venue times are 10am to 4pm this Saturday and Sunday over the Easter Weekend.

Model submariners come from around Australia to run there models for the two days. The models are of varying sizes and are of submersibles and military submarines over the ages.

The public is welcome and there is an entrance fee to enter the complex.

They could have made it more interesting by inviting the model ship and torpedo club and Japanese dive bomber club for a re enactment of the great marianas turkey shoot of WW2.

Maybe they should have approached the AIS about running it at the pool with the underwater viewing area…

For those old enough to remember, wasn’t “Going to watch the Submarine Races” a euphemism for “having sex” in the old TV show “Happy Days”?

Do you get in the pool to see the submarines? Otherwise how do you see them?

I assume that is why they hold it in a pool and not the lake (not so you can get in, although that might be handy, but so you can see them through the water).

One ping only!

Had no idea there was Submarine model society. Good luck to them. I wonder if they have a model of the Russian sub ‘Kursk’. By hell that was a big boat. ( please note I used ‘boat’. That Fry show taught me that all Navy type vessels are know as ‘ships’, and only subs are called boats. The lady on the panel wondered that if they were big enough to have curtains around the windows, they were called ships ) )
