Candle festival

The ACT Governments’ Events operation’s ongoing war with Tourism continues with news of the candle festival this Saturday running into the teeth of the Floriade juggernaut on the other side of the lake.

2010 marks the 1300th anniversary of the ancient city of Nara with whom we share a Sister City relationship.

The 2010 Canberra Nara Candle Festival promises to be more spectacular than ever with a wide range Japanese cuisine, entertainment and of course, over 2000 lit candles.

It kicks off in Lennox Gardens (behind the Hyatt) at 3.30pm.

Some candles are more unfortunate than others as they can be made from rendered tallow and petrochemicals which are pretty nasty.
On the other hand they can be made from beeswax and better yet are the soybean oil candles. They tend to be the highest quality and most expensive which is why they are also the ones using all natural fragrances so your candles don’t smell like toilet cleaner!
So please, Mr Evil, choose soy!

Aren’t candles bad for the environment?

And learn all about tentacle rape?

Is this the event where kids get to make a lantern?

Me too BimboGeek! I was in fact just recently discussing the festival with someone who enjoyed the beauty of all the candles. I’ll definitely be marking this one into my calendar.

Yaaaay! I’ve been looking forward to this!
