The Canberra Navy Vikings launched today, with Nick Scrivener as coach. This is our team for the Mazda Australian Rugby Championship.

Players known so far are Saia Faingaa, Francis Fainifo, John Ulugia and Peter Kimlin. First game will be Saturday 11 August at Manuka Oval, and we’ll be playing Melbourne Rebels.

The launch was headed up by Brumbies management, with lots of representation from Navy (team sponsors).

More info at Canberra Rugby as it comes to hand.

Update on the Canberra Rugby website – club memberships still being sorted out, but will be offered through the Brumbies club in a few weeks. Team colours are Vikings red, not Brumbies blue. Photos will hopefully be on http://www.navy.gov.au tomorrow or the day after (and hopefully not showing divers paddling to shore).

Saw it on WIN news, as the boat was paddled to shore by NAVY personnel after breaking down. Maybe they should keep some money to fix their own boats.

You’re joking surely? Classic.

The launch was a bit of a debacle with the team getting stranded in the middle of the lake after the Navy boat broke down.
