Canberra Raiders fall to Broncos 22-10

Fox Sports reports that the Canberra Raiders have gone down to the Brisbane Broncos 22-10 at Lang Park, in front of over 35,000 fans.

Canberra went into half time down only 8-6, but were unable to contain the Broncos, who scored three more tries after half time to the Raiders’ one extra. Rookie half Josh McCrone set up the Raiders’ first try and scored the second one himself, while Josh Dugan (who is well and truly in the mix for Dally M Rookie of the Year) made some great defensive reads and showed great courage in stopping Broncos giant Dave Taylor from scoring a try.

Despite the loss, there are a number of positives to come out of this season. First and foremost, the emergence of a number of excellent young players will stand the club in good stead in future – Dugan, Jarrod Croker, Travis Waddell, Joel Thompson, Dan Vidot and Josh McCrone have all played extremely well this year. Dugan in particular is a very special player, with enormous talent and courage. Of Canberra’s older players, Josh Miller, Bronson Harrison and Tom Leroyd-Lahrs acquitted themselves well. The team had some outstanding wins, including over Melbourne, the Broncos and St George.
